Are the Winds of Change Blowing in Michigan?

Finally, some good news. After one year of daily assaults and denigration by the Left of the liberty and freedoms we cherish, voters in several states sent a loud and clear message: "Knock it Off!!"

Massive Republican victories in Virginia and New Jersey grabbed all the headlines but there was another race on the state level in Michigan that shouldn't be dismissed either. It too may be a bellwether for what's to come in Michigan's electoral politics one year from now.

Mike Nofs, the Republican candidate for the state senate, won a massive majority in yesterday's special election: 61% to 34%. This Michigan senate seat was held by the Democrat's Mark Schauer who vacated the seat a year ago. This victory by Republican Nofs represents a pick up of a seat for the GOP in the state senate - the only branch of state government controlled by the Republicans. After last night's victory, Republicans now hold a 22 to 16 majority in the state senate.

A GOP victory in this swing district that includes portions of Calhoun and Jackson Counties (Battle Creek area) is nothing to sniff at. Instead, this may be just a taste of what's to come in next year's statewide elections in which all state senate and house of representative seats will be up for election along with Michigan's governorship.

The winds of change may finally be blowing in Michigan. Let us hope conservatives nominate outstanding candidates through the coming primaries who will then effectively sell their message of how they will fix Michigan to the voters.

Congrats Mike. Thanks for showing us the way to victory for our party and, more importantly, for the citizens of our great lakes state.
